NOTICIAS

[:en]In this end of 2017 we continue to remember the different cities that during this season have hosted one of the tests of the International Padel Experience by Madison, the only international amateur padel circuit.

After the cities of Berlin and Dublin came the turn of Sicily and, with it, the first visit of the circuit to Italian lands in 2017. From 12th to 14th May the participants of the sicily Open enjoyed not only a tournament of exception, but also the opportunity to meet one of the most beautiful cities in southern Italy: Syracuse.

Located on the island of Sicily, seventh largest in Europe, the streets of Syracuse host a myriad of monuments and places of interest waiting to be discovered by the eyes of the visitor.

It would be difficult to list all the places worth visiting, for that reason, we wanted to highlight some of them, leaving the rest to be revealed by the travelers.

Ortiguia: Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Ortiguia is the historic center of the city. Getting lost in its streets will be the best way to get to know this neighborhood, in whose streets there are many essential buildings for all those who pass through Syracuse.

Piazza Duomo and Duomo of Syracuse: In its interior the remains of an ancient Greek temple are housed, while on the outside, it is integrated into a square full of life, bars, restaurants and ice cream.

Catacombe di san Giovanni: After the roma, these are the most extensive catacombs in Italy and a great attraction for lovers of archaeological tourism.

Aretusa Fountain: Almost an oasis in the city, this fountain is located in front of the sea and is one of the most characteristic images of the city. Greek mythology tells that the nymph Aretusa, fleeing from Alpheus, son of the god Ocean, asked to become a source to escape from him. However, Alfeo, madly in love with Aretusa, became a river to flow into the source and thus be linked to his love forever.[:]
