NOTICIAS

[:en]The countdown for the Roma Open has started. In September 22th to 24th, the Cittá Eterna will host the fourteenth stop of the International Padel Open by Madison, the only amateur paddle international circuit.

We have spoken with Victor Soler Gallardo, sports manager for the Club Bola Padel, which will host the tournament in the Italian city.

Good afternoon, Victor. How old is the Club Bola Padel?

We are a very new club, we opened just a few months ago, specifically, on May 2nd, 2017.

What services and facilities do you offer to Club members?

Bola Padel is undoubtedly the largest and most exclusive club in the city of Rome and even throughout Italy.

We have 8 panoramic courts, with bar, cafeteria and terrace, as well as large areas focused on holding events. In addition, we have a physical training area, both in synthetic grass and in sand.

We put the maximum attention in all the details, that is why we also offer modern dressing rooms, with heating underfloor and installation with solar energy, that supplies the hot water of the club. Users of the club also have access to a private parking in which to leave their car or motorcycle while they are in our facilities.

How many people make use of your facilities?

Despite the short time we have been running, we have had a great welcome in the city and today there are more than 1,600 players registered, which must be added to the participants of the various tournaments we have organized, including a national Slam.

What is the profile of the paddle player in Rome?

When the padel fever began, many of the players who were interested in this discipline were former tennis players who approached the world of paddle tennis, so the technical level was very high from the beginning, as they found it easy to adapt to this new modality of game.

Over time, other people started to approach to padel, which has created a wide range of levels of players. At present, the type paddle player in Italy is a man, between 35 and 45 years. For women, the profile is very similar, but the number of participants is somewhat lower.

How is the evolution of the paddle in the country?

In Rome the padel began to become popular in the area of Roma Nord between July 2013 and March 2014 with the opening of the first exclusive padel club with 3 courts, at that time there were only 8 courts in the whole city.

Today, we are close to 400 courts, being the city of Italy with a larger number of courts and players.

Why did you decide to join the International Padel Experience by Madison?

I met the Internationale Padel Experience by Madison last year and, knowing the importance of the circuit and the development of our club project, I said that we could not miss our important tournament of international level.

What do you like most about this circuit?

For us it is a pride to be part of the variety of countries and venues that make up the circuit. In addition, we highly value the professionalism of the team and is guaranteed by the big sponsors who have decided to trust the event.

Is the Roma Open generating excitement?

I am pleased to say that, as the date approaches, the expectation for the tournament is getting closer. Many have come to ask for information and to register, excited by the magnitude of the event.

What future plans do you have for your club?

The great expansion of the club in the few months it has been running, in addition to the good reception and the high degree of satisfaction among our customers makes us think big. We would like to expand our facilities and continue, in this way, being the benchmark of the paddle in Italy.[:]
